Fall Classic Game 7 Draws 51 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The exciting extended matchup where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a total 51 million watchers in the United States, Canada, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball reported this represents the most-watched Fall Classic finale since the 1991 showdown featuring the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Breakdown

Last Saturday’s memorable game averaged over 27 million audience members on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It additionally stands as the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a sixteen percent increase compared to the previous Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked fourth, Game 4 was 7th, Game 5 came in 8th, and Game 3 landed in 13th place.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the game recorded 11.6M viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English program in Canada after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding contest began at 9 p.m. local time, it drew 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – recorded 13.1 million viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The full seven-match World Series drew 15.71M viewers on the Fox network, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen viewership increases for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on the Univision network, the total American viewership was 16.1 million. The overall Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1M in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged 8.09M watchers, an 8% increase compared to last year and Fox’s best playoff performance after the 2017 season.

MLB reported that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in 16 different languages.
