19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a torrid year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in specific - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden championship since the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since spring of the previous year.

Victory also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, including in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused some to doubt if his ability to compete at the highest level was concluded.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and play positively, supported by an better serve.

He recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet defended 4 early break points in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, he earned the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
